It's been a good week at the Lazy Dog. People are out and about, with lots getting ready for back-to-school next week. Stopping in for lunch or dinner makes a lot of sense - why worry about having to cook when there's so much else to do! We had a great group of teachers in for lunch, taking advantage of their time off to get together before going back themselves.
Our Thursday open mic/karaoke night was crowded as usual, with a good combination of regular patrons and new faces. This week we featured trivia about the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon show. I'm not too sure how interested people were, but I remember watching the cartoons and enjoyed learning and remembering about Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, Natasha, Peabody & Sherman, Dudley DoRight & all the other kookie characters.
Last night our featured performer was Fortunate Son. He's a popular acoustic player & singer, doing lots of great music from the 60's and 70's. Everyone gave him high marks on their comment cards & seemed to enjoy the evening.
Tonight we have Mr. Z and the Nighshift. One of the most popular groups in our area, Mr. Z comes to us from Berks county, but plays a lot here in Schuylkill. Everyone knows and loves this group! Looking for something to do tonight? Come to the Lazy Dog! Music is 8-11.

I wanted to make a comment on Open mic night! I was there one night and there was so many people that there was not enough room to fit everyone. I stood at the door for about an hour and a half, and no one got up to leave. Then all of a sudden the owner got up and said it was a violation that anyone under 21 must leave because a law the liquor control board made; that there was too many people in the building. I don't care it that's true or not. That's bullshit! He lost all that business and didn't bother to realize people were just sitting there taking up space. That was discrimination! Maybe people were there just to eat instead of going to see open mic, like me! Just because I was under 21 i had to leave!!!! and another thing, why do you pass around a plate for money? and you suggested that night to put in 2 dollars! if your a business and you don't have enough money, you shouldn't stay open. Maybe you shouldn't of kicked all them people out, then maybe you would of had more.
Get with it!
